Kristan recently lent her expertise to the Kent family for their kitchen remodel in Shamong, NJ. They met with Kristan, the architect and the builder to come up with an architecture plan that would bump out the back of the house and create a kitchen addition. The house was extended about 5 feet into the back yard, creating a larger kitchen space. The Kent’s always wanted an island and this addition provided that extra space for a large size island. The window was also increased is width and height to allow more light and the soffits were removed to provide taller wall cabinet.
The Kent family wanted a larger space so the entire family can enjoy the kitchen. In doing that, we increased the size of the window and recommended an off white painted cabinet to lighten up the kitchen. They also wanted a large island making it easier for the children to do their homework. They opted for a more decorative Ogee on the island top with a standard eased edge on all the tops on the perimeter, adding contrast to the kitchen.
We built a large walk in pantry in the corner of the kitchen for additional storage and the client added a decorative tile design above the range. This was done to break up the tile and to add a focal point to the kitchen. I suggested that they use a quartz counter top that are easy to clean and virtually maintenance free.
